If you are planning a trip to Korea, one of the first questions you may have is:
“When is the best time to visit Korea?”
Korea has four distinct seasons, and each season offers a different experience. The weather, scenery, activities, festivals, and even the food you can enjoy change throughout the year.
If this is your first trip to Korea, I personally recommend spring or autumn. In particular, April, May, late September, and October are some of the best times to explore Korea, from Seoul and Busan to Gyeongju and Jeju Island.
Spring: March to May
Spring is one of the most beautiful times to visit Korea.
From late March through April, cherry blossoms appear across the country. You can enjoy beautiful spring scenery in places such as Seoul, Gyeongju, and Jinhae.
By May, the weather becomes warmer and it is an excellent time for walking around cities, visiting palaces, and exploring the outdoors.

Cherry blossoms
Traditional palaces and villages
Walking along the Han River
Beautiful spring landscapes
Seasonal spring vegetables and dishes
Recommended period: April to May
Keep in mind that cherry blossom dates change every year depending on the weather, so check the expected blooming period before your trip.
Summer: June to August
Korean summers are hot and humid.
July and August can be particularly hot, and the country can also experience a rainy season and periods of extreme heat. For travelers who are not used to hot and humid weather, sightseeing can sometimes be tiring.
However, summer has its own attractions.
You can enjoy the beaches of Busan and Jeju Island, visit valleys and water parks, and experience a variety of summer activities.
Korean summer food is also something you should not miss.
Korean foods to try in summer
Naengmyeon
Kongguksu
Samgyetang
Patbingsu
Refreshing seafood dishes
Eating a bowl of cold naengmyeon on a hot summer day is a great way to experience Korean summer culture.
Recommended period: Early June or late August
Autumn: Late September to November
If you are visiting Korea for the first time, autumn is the season I would recommend the most.
Once the summer heat disappears, the weather becomes cooler and more comfortable. The humidity also decreases, making it much easier to spend a whole day walking around and sightseeing.
In October, you can enjoy beautiful autumn foliage throughout the country. The colorful leaves around Korean palaces, mountains, parks, and traditional villages create some of the most beautiful scenery of the year.

Recommended period: October
Considering the weather, scenery, and food, October is one of the best times of the year for first-time visitors to Korea.
Winter: December to February
Korean winters can be cold, but they also offer a completely different experience.
In Seoul, you can explore palaces and traditional neighborhoods surrounded by crisp winter air. In Gangwon Province, you can enjoy skiing and other winter sports.
Winter is also a wonderful season to experience Korean comfort food.

So, Which Month Is Best for Visiting Korea?
If this is your first trip to Korea, here is a simple guide.
March to April: Excellent for cherry blossoms and spring scenery.
May: Excellent for warm and comfortable weather.
June: Good for early summer travel.
July to August: Hot and humid, so it may be less comfortable for sightseeing.
September: The weather gradually becomes cooler and more comfortable.
October: One of the best months for visiting Korea.
November: Great for autumn foliage and late autumn scenery.
December to February: Best for travelers who enjoy winter scenery, snow, skiing, and Korean winter food.
Visiting Korea for the First Time?
If you are visiting Korea for the first time, I recommend April, May, or October.
In spring, you can enjoy cherry blossoms and pleasant weather. In autumn, you can experience comfortable temperatures and beautiful fall colors.
These seasons are also ideal for exploring different parts of Korea, from the palaces of Seoul to Jeonju Hanok Village, Gyeongju, and Busan.
And of course, food is an essential part of any trip to Korea.
Each season has its own special dishes, so experiencing Korea through its seasons also means experiencing its seasonal food.
Enjoy spring vegetables in spring, naengmyeon and patbingsu in summer, seasonal ingredients in autumn, and hot stews and jeongol in winter.
The best time to visit Korea is not simply about having perfect weather. It also depends on what you want to experience.
Visit in spring if you want to see flowers, summer if you want to enjoy the beaches, autumn if you want comfortable weather and beautiful nature, and winter if you want to experience snow and Korea’s comforting winter dishes.
