My Story

Why I Created Korean Open Kitchen

For the past seven years, I have worked in a Korean restaurant in Germany, where I have had the opportunity to introduce Korean food to many European guests.

Over the years, I noticed something interesting.

Many people are curious about Korean food, but they often don’t know where to start.

They may have tried Korean BBQ, Bibimbap, Kimchi, or other Korean dishes at a restaurant, but when they want to understand the food better or make it themselves at home, it can be difficult to find information that is both authentic and easy to understand.

That is why I created Korean Open Kitchen.

This website is not simply a collection of Korean recipes. I want to share the things I have learned through years of working with Korean food in Germany — from how certain dishes are traditionally prepared, to small cooking techniques that can make a surprisingly big difference.

I also want to introduce Korean food from a perspective that is easy to understand for people who are not Korean.

What makes Korean food special?

How should you eat it?

Which dishes are worth trying?

What should you order when visiting a Korean restaurant for the first time?

And how can you recreate some of these dishes at home?

These are the kinds of questions I want to answer.

I will also share Korean food culture, restaurant experiences, ingredients, cooking tips, and dishes that I believe are worth discovering.

My goal is simple:

To make Korean food more approachable, understandable, and enjoyable for everyone.

Whether you are discovering Korean food for the first time, planning a trip to Korea, or simply want to cook something Korean at home, I hope Korean Open Kitchen can be a useful and enjoyable place to start.
